State Rep. Daniel Swanson (R-Alpha), a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, jumped at the chance to show his appreciation for members of the military earlier this month.
“This afternoon I attended the Rock Island Arsenal Retirement Ceremony honoring 3 Army Officers and 4 Department of Army Civilians for their long and honorable service upon their retirement,” he wrote on Facebook on Dec. 13. “I was especially proud as two civilians I had the distinct pleasure to work with and I call my friends were in the retiree group.”
Swanson singled out Terri Morrison and Gary Nellis for special praise, adding the two put in the extra time and effort needed to “help stand-up the Lead Materiel Integration Mission when transferred from the Pentagon to Army Sustainment Command.”
Swanson’s 74th District includes Mercer, Henry, Knox, Bureau and Lee counties in western Illinois.
