Report: Mercer County spent $9,270 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Mercer County School District 404 is up 4.2 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Mercer County school district spent $8,898 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,270 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1384 to 1352.

Mercer County's spending in 2017-18 was 30.5 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
