South Moline Township Board of Trustee met July 20.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER — Meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Supervisor Best.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Motion by Anderson, second by Griffin, that we approve the minutes of June 15, 2020. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.
OFFICIALS' REPORTS —
a. Road Commissioner — Best informed all that they are still replacing culverts and clearing ditches. Anderson asked about recent storm damage. Best said there was some minor damage and it has been removed.
b. Assessor — The Assessor’s Office is open.
c. Clerk — We have been preparing for the Annual Town Meeting.
d. Trustees — Anderson asked about a rise in the Mediacom bill. Best is going to contact them. Further discussion is needed.
e. Cemetery — One tree came down in the storm. It will soon be cleaned up.
f. Seniors — The Senior Center has opened up part-time starting on July 6th. There are restrictions still in place. Bingo is still on hold. The only days the senior center is open are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the time being.
SUPERVISOR'S REPORT —
a. EMSSC – Best is going to contact the youth club and see where they stand as far as starting the season for a donation.
b. G.A. Report – Pending 1, Active 5, Denied 2, Total 8.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS —
a. The retaining wall was fixed outside of the Township Office.
b. We are still looking for a way to help schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. The board is waiting to see what schools are planning to do.
