Kewanee City Fire District responded to 97 calls in 2018 - 5.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Kewanee City included 43 fires - 19 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $370,200 in fire loss - or about $8,609 per fire.

The department also received 53 false calls, including two malicious calls and 51 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
