Sen. Neil Anderson has been contemplating the effects of restrictions limiting the activities of the community.

“The continued, strict regulations that are preventing our high school students from participating in athletics have gone on for far too long,” Anderson said in a statement he released in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s restrictions. “While states all across the nation, and every bordering state of Illinois, have been able to successfully allow for sports in a safe and responsible manner, Gov. Pritzker’s administration has done very little to give Illinois students those same opportunities."

While Illinois citizens endure the constraints, neighboring states have eased up on restrictions.

“Our children have been cheated out of opportunities, while those just miles away across the border continue to grow, achieve and strive. Enough is enough. It’s long past time to implement the proper regulations that allow for student athletes to compete.”

Government controls meant to slow the spread of COVID-19 have not only slowed public activities but have put a drag on the economy.

Illinois ranks fifth on the list of states with the biggest increase in unemployment claims since last week, according to WalletHub.

The state has posted a huge 710.11 percent increase in unemployment claims when comparing the weeks between March 18, 2019 to January 6, 2020 versus the weeks between March 16, 2020 to January 4, 2021.
