Thanks to a bill proposed by state Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria) and signed into law by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Ronald McDonald House Charities will be able to receive additional aid when Illinoisans fill out their taxes.

The Ronald McDonald House is one of the most well-known foundations for helping families in need.

Stoller said in a Facebook post, "The new tax checkoff that this legislation creates will help ensure that the Ronald McDonald House Charities are able to continue their vital work for the families of sick children. It is my honor to assist them with their mission of keeping families together while their child receives treatment."

The new law will allow residents in Illinois to donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities by checking off a box on their state tax form. The donation is tax deductible. With the newest addition, Illinois now features six tax checkoff program options

The legislation, Senate Bill 81, was signed into law on July 9.
