City of East Moline Park Board met July 13.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
President Brian Stombaugh called meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
Roll Call: Present: Brian Stombaugh, Ald. Almblade, T. Johnson, G. Lowery, B. Rusch, M. Spencer, Lynn Segura, J. Swanson
Absent: R. Cervantes* *- called, can’t make it.
Guests: none
Secretary’s Report: Motion to approve minutes of May meeting made by Lowery, seconded by Segura, all in favor, motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Lowery advised this May balance of $75,951.00. Motion to approve May balance by Segura, seconded by Lowery, all in favor, motion passed.
Reports from Partnering Organizations: none
New Business
1. Introduction of New Board Member. Lynn Segura introduced herself and other members gave brief background of being on board.
2. Recognition for departing board members: Brian thought it would be proper to give some kind of appreciation to departing board members. A hierarchy of years of service with gift/plaque was suggested. There was suggestion less than 4 yrs, certificate, more than plaque. Gift cards suggested by Stombaugh. Spencer suggested EM jackets/park board pullovers/pollos. Swanson suggested a variety of options. It was decided to start with gift card and plaque,. Motion to give certificate for less than 4 years, and a $50.00 gift card and plaque for more than 4 years made by Spencer, seconded by Lowery. Those in favor: Stombaugh, Ald. Almblade, G. Lowery, B. Rusch, M. Spencer, Lynn Segura, J. Swanson. Those against: None, Motion passes.
Old Business
1) Pickle Ball courts:. Almblade said all funds approved and hoping for fall completion.
2) Empire Park Volunteer restoration: Spencer spoke with Candice to do walk through at Empire to see what can be done. Planned 5:30 Thursday. Spencer, Lynn, Stombaugh, Almblade to go. Discussed quorum limits.
3) Park History Plaques status: Rusch has info on all 19 parks except Wyman. All signs need painting. Q&R code discussed. Plaques to say when dedicated. Dedication Kickoff planned for June, 2022 at older park – Butterworth. Motion to proceed with project: Spencer, second by Lowery, all in favor, motion passes. Discussed signs being repainted by Adopt-a-Park volunteers.
4) Hoops for Hope. Johnson said wanting to make motion have Hoops for Hope at Hereford for late August early September for event and to be finalized at next meeting. It was decided to hold motion for event until August meeting.
Other:
1) Call for August meeting: Dicussed meeting schedule. Suggested to add June and August meeting to schedule. It was decided to have special meeting in August.
2) Trick or Treat event at Rust Belt: Rusch asked if we are going to participate in the event. Everyone thought it was a good idea and Almblade will advise board when it is scheduled.
With no other business, motion to adjourn meeting made by Lowery, seconded by Rusch, All in favor, motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:40pm.
