This month, State Rep. Tony McCombie is seeking nominations from the public for Influential Women of the 71st District.

"We have all known great women in our lives," McCombie said in a recent news release from her office. "Some are mothers or sisters, business owners or educators, but all are inspirations. I want to honor these women and highlight their effect on our lives. Please join me in nominating an influential woman in your life; so that together we can recognize all the amazing women of the 71st District."

On July 14, McCombie plans to host an event to honor the women of influence who have changed lives, the release said.

To nominate an influential woman for recognition, send an email to mccombie@ilhousegop.org, the release said. Submissions should include a short narrative supporting the nominee; the nominee's contact information, including first and last name, address, city, telephone and email address; and the nominator's contact information. Nominations are due by July 1. 

McCombie also recently announced a spring photo contest for her district.

"I love this district," she said in a news release, quoted by Rock Island Today. "Nature's beauty is unmatched and the people are wonderful. I am always proud to show off the 71st District. Help me share that pride by submitting your photos so that together we can show the rest of Illinois our magnificence."
