Republican state Rep. Tony McCombie implored Democratic U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos to vote against the Inflation Reduction Act, in a Facebook post on Thursday.

In the link shared by McCombie to her Facebook, Farm Week Now reported that Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert Jr. said the bureau, "appreciates the ag provisions and is pleased lawmakers recognize the role agriculture can play in addressing climate change issues, Farm Bureau has concerns with the bill legislating conservation programs outside of farm bill discussions with ag groups and other stakeholders."

Meanwhile, Bustos is proud of the bill.

"Yesterday, @SenateDems voted to pass the HISTORIC Inflation Reduction Act," Bustos said on Twitter. "This bill will help reduce high costs facing American families - all while investing in climate solutions that will create jobs.

This came despite an impassioned plea from McCombie to vote down the legislation.

"Rep. Cheri Bustos please hear the IL Farm Bureau and vote NO on this bill!" McCombie said in the post. "I know your views have changed since you were originally elected, but you were supported by the Farm Bureau and I hope that is because you will side with the district that elected you!"
