A new report has revealed insurance rates across Illinois are on the rise, and state Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) believes government spending and Democrat policies are to blame for the price hike.

McCombie shared her thoughts in a Sept. 16 Facebook post

"Here we go!" McCombie wrote in the post. "This is no surprise to me! Higher government spending and bad government policy caused this problem! Please do your research and vote accordingly this November! #nothingsfree #stopspending #yourvoiceyourvote"

In the post, McCombie shared a screen capture of a Chicago Tribune story. In the article, the paper reported that State Farm rates increased by more than 8%, while Allstate rated their auto insurance rates by 14% last month. Both companies pointed blame at inflation for raising prices.

McCombie recently celebrated David and Kay Engaldo, who received the Service Above Self Award. She thanked the couple and said she got goosebumps when she heard about how much they've done for their community.

She's stayed busy in the district this summer and encouraged children to read during while on break from school. She delivered some McComBEE Buzz Reading Certificates to schools in both Fulton and Morrison. In addition to the certificate, each child received a pencil and a Dairy Queen gift certificate. It was her sixth summer reading program. Children who read eight or more books qualified for the prize.
