ROCKFORD, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) announced $1,681,014 in federal grant funding for Rockford-based Crusader Community Health to provide high-quality health services for families in Northwestern Illinois.
"Working families deserve access to affordable health care, regardless of income or ZIP code," said Sorensen. "I welcome this investment to further support our region's health needs and make Illinois communities stronger."
“We appreciate the ongoing congressional support we receive to sustain operations for our patients,” said Sam Miller, President and CEO of Crusader Community Health. “This federal funding ensures all families have access to high quality services and the best possible care.”
This funding was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to Crusader Community Health, which serves more than 59,000 patients annually in Northern Illinois.
These grants were awarded as part of HHS’ Health Center Cluster program, which funds health clinics across the nation that meet certain criteria.
Congressman Eric Sorensen is the first openly LGBTQ person elected to represent Illinois at the federal level and is a member of the New Democrat Coalition. He serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
