City of Moline Traffic Engineering Committee met Aug. 1.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order – Laura Klauer

2. Roll Call – Laura Klauer

3. Approval of minutes of the Traffic Engineering Committee meeting of July 11, 2023.

4. Resident at 125 18th Avenue A is requesting 1st Street A be marked “No Parking”. Explanation: Resident anticipates there will be increased traffic on 1st Street A due to the new Starbucks traffic. 1st Street A is the only access residents have that live on 18th Avenue and 18th Avenue

A. Parking is currently prohibited on 1st Street A, east side, from 19th Avenue to 18th Avenue A.

5. Resident requests speed limit on 34th Street between 5th Avenue and 12th Avenue, be lowered. Explanation: Resident states she witnesses many vehicles speeding in this area. She is concerned for the safety of pedestrians. This was discussed as an “other” at the previous traffic committee meeting. PD to collect speed data. Current speed limit is 40 MPH.

6. Resident requesting modification of parking restriction on 40th Street, between 2nd and 4th Avenues.

Explanation: There are “NO PARKING THIS SIDE OF STREET” signs on both the east and west sides of 40th Street, between 2nd and 4th Avenue. Resident is requesting on-street parking be allowed.

Otherwise, he is forced to park in his yard. Current ordinance states Fortieth Street, on the east side, from Fourth Avenue, north for a distance of 200 feet.
