State Senator Neil Anderson expressed his discontent following the Senate's approval of House Bill 3438. The bill, which includes financial support for the Chicago transit system, introduces a $1.50 delivery tax on nearly all online orders.

Senator Anderson criticized the measure stating, “Chicago’s transit failures are now every Illinoisans’ problem thanks to Democrat lawmakers who rammed through a delivery tax to bail out Brandon Johnson’s broken system. This is nothing but a statewide shakedown to cover up local incompetence."

He further emphasized that "families are already struggling, and now they’re being forced to pay for a disaster they didn’t cause and won’t benefit from." Anderson concluded by saying, "Democrats failed to fix their transit problems, and now our taxpayers are being forced to foot the bill.”

The bill aims to provide funding solutions for Chicago's troubled transit system by spreading costs across residents statewide.
