WOODHULL – State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) expressed his disappointment with the U.S. Postal Service's recent decision to relocate distribution duties from a center in Milan to Des Moines, Iowa. Swanson voiced his concerns, stating, "I am disappointed at the lack of transparency and the lack of concern for residents of our area who are served by rural route mail delivery."
Swanson further highlighted his apprehensions about the potential consequences of this move, stating, "I am concerned that this is going to result in slower service and more inconvenience for those who rely on the Postal Service for everything from conducting their business to receiving their medications."
The Postal Service announced the decision to shift the duties of the Milan facility from a Processing and Distribution Center to a Local Processing Center in a document earlier this week. Despite the opposition voiced by local residents during an informational meeting hosted by USPS in February, the decision proceeded, leaving Swanson and others feeling unheard.
