Evelyn Wilbur, a ninth-grade student from Orion High School, participated as a Page for a day in the Illinois House of Representatives. Her participation took place on Wednesday under the sponsorship of State Representative Dan Swanson from Alpha.
State Representative Swanson expressed his satisfaction with Evelyn's visit, stating, "I was glad to have Evelyn here with us in Springfield to get a first-hand look at how state government works." He noted that she had the opportunity to meet legislators, tour the Capitol, and observe the workings of the House of Representatives closely.
Evelyn maintains a 4.0 high honor roll status at Orion High School and is actively involved in various clubs and activities such as golf, band, choir, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Culinary and Robotics clubs, drama, and the Orion Gray Matters Collective. The latter focuses on mental health awareness. Additionally, she contributes to her community through involvement with organizations like the American Legion Auxiliary, Orion Community Band, Orion Area Food Pantry, and Riverbend Food Pantry.
