FOIA Request to Mercer County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rock Island Today have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Mercer County Clerk. The request, made on January 14, 2025, seeks information about the candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
Specifically, we are asking for a list of candidates that includes their names, the dates they filed their candidacy, and the offices they are running for. As an organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
