Three Rock Island students have been granted Above and Beyond Scholarships.
Three Rock Island students received Above and Beyond Scholarships at the Rock Island-Milan School District No. 41 meeting on Jan. 26.
The scholarships were presented by representatives of the Thoms family.
Matthew Benson received $500 for his "real-life science fair" project; Isabella Ndikumwenimana received $500 for her work on connecting cultures to build community; and Elizabeth Moore received $5,000 for the educational garden she helped develop at Denkmann Elementary.
The board also approved the resignation of Frances Willard Principal Meredith Johnson and the retirement of R.I.C.M.S. Principal Ruth Ann Tobey-Brown.
Student member Emilie Wilfong was not in attendance.
