A food and hygiene drive is being organized to assist furloughed Arsenal employees as well as other displaced government and essential workers. The initiative is led by the American Federation of Government Employees in partnership with the Quad City Federation of Labor.

The drive will accept both physical donations and monetary contributions. According to organizers, financial gifts can be made through the River Bend Food Bank, which can use bulk purchasing power to maximize impact. "Because they can purchase items in bulk, your dollars go further. Just $1 provides 5 meals for local families," stated the announcement. Donations can be made online at riverbendfoodbank.org/donate.

Donations will be collected at several locations on different days:

- BridgePoint Building at 1 Montgomery Court, Moline, Illinois: Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- River Bend Food Bank at 4010 Kimmel Drive, Davenport, Iowa: Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- SouthPark Mall near Von Maur at 4500 16th Street, Moline, Illinois: Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organizers have provided a list of needed hygiene and cleaning supplies such as diapers (all sizes), pull ups, baby wipes, bar soap, baby shampoo or wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes (adult & child), toothpaste (adult & child), dental floss, deodorant, tampons, feminine napkins, formula, bleach, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, disinfecting wipes and all-purpose cleaner.

Food items requested include canned fruit and meats (including tuna), peanut butter, soups, stews and chili. Donors are encouraged to provide unopened shelf-stable food even if it is past its “best by” date; however prepared foods or those that are opened or damaged will not be accepted. Pop-top lids are preferred for recipients who may not have access to a can opener.
