WIU art students recently won a Blick contest.
A team of three Western Illinois University (WIU) art students won a timed painting contest Thursday at a Blick Art Materials store in Galesburg.
Freshman Kelly Brown, and sophomores Edward Johnson and Juaquin Mendoza had one hour and 45 minutes to paint a 36-by-48-inch canvas with a piece addressing the theme of "Heroes." Their painting was selected from the works of several college and high school teams from the surrounding area.
WIU students also won the Blick Madness contest last year.
This year's crew was coached by WIU professor Tim Waldrop, and received canvas and other art supplies in honor of their work.
