Support for House candidate Brandi McGuire continues to grow with the primaries less than a week away.

The conservative candidate has racked up a number of key endorsements from conservative groups and leaders in her bid for the 72nd District Illinois House of Representatives seat, which is currently held by Rep. Patrick Verschoore (D-Milan). Now, the small business owner has received a thumbs-up from local voters.

In a Liberty Principles PAC campaign commercial, several voters expressed their support of the mother of four.

“I think Brandi has the courage to go down and ruffle feathers if they need to be ruffled,” Sarah Perez, teacher and mother of four herself, said.

“She’s genuine and she’s tenacious,” Robert Ausdal, an accountant and financial analyst, said.

David Umphrey, a nonprofit director, said he views McGuire as “one of us,” because she’s a working person in the community like everyone else.

Dr. Margaret Milar summed up McGuire in a word: “integrity.”

“She just knows right from wrong,” Milar said.

Lois and Hank Gary said one thing they like about McGuire is “she has fire in the belly.”

McGuire’s daughter, Kellsey, has epileptic seizures. When Kellsey’s school in Sherrard refused to allow Jasper, Kellsey’s service dog, to be with her in school, McGuire was determined to fight on Kellsey’s behalf. She sued the Sherrard School District and won. As a result, the school district pays for Kellsey to attend private school.

One of McGuire’s main campaign points has been her desire to make a difference for families with children living with disabilities. McGuire states on her website that she is running for state representative “so that no child and no family ever has to go through what my daughter and my family went through.”

“I don’t think Springfield is going to change Brandi,” Kelly Senatra, also the mother of a special needs child, said in the ad. “I think Brandi is going to go down and change Springfield.”

McGuire has received endorsements from the Illinois Federation for Right to Life PAC, Illinois Restoration PAC, The Chicago Tribune, Republican State Sen. Neil Anderson and former Republican Rep. Bobby Schilling.
