Rock Island has announced the final paving of Sixth Avenue, which will hinder traffic flow.
Construction crews plan to close some of the traffic lanes at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 18th Street Monday to prepare for paving.
City officials said crews will also remove the temporary pavement laid on Sixth Avenue between 17th Street and 18th Street and 18th Street and 19th Street, in preparation for laying a final layer of more permanent asphalt.
City officials expect the intersection to remain partially closed until April 29.
Until then, drivers are advised to find alternative routes around the area and to factor in delays near the construction zone in their commuting plans.
