A series of three meetings, to be hosed by Rock Island Parks and Recreation, is scheduled for the near future for community residents to learn more about the status and pending plans for the area’s park infrastructure.
Citizens are invited to attend any of the three events, all of them scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. on three different Wednesdays at separate locations: Aug. 10 at Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center, Aug. 31 at the Hauberg Civic Center and Sept. 7 at Southwest Library.
Rock Island Parks and Recreation director John Gripp encourages residents to attend one of these community meetings. Topics will address recent budget changes, tasks undertaken to create a viable future for the parks sector, reorganization and more, with ample time allotted for discussion and questions.

Matters on the agenda also will include the jurisdiction’s new three-tier approach to park maintenance and information about the Friends and Park Foundation groups' contributions to the park system.
