Tony McCombie, the Republican candidate for Illinois State House, from District 71, which includes Rock Island, Illinois, has vowed to take a stand on fiscal responsibility if elected. This includes restoring responsibility in Springfield, implementing term limits and Land of Lincoln redistricting.
“Our government needs to live by the same standards we do – you cannot spend money you don’t have and expect to succeed,” McCombie’s website reads. “As Mayor of Savanna, Tony McCombie has a proven record of bipartisanship and delivering balanced budgets. No more tax increases and borrowing. Representatives in Springfield need to put politics aside and reach a balanced budget compromise.”
McCombie also spoke on her website about her vision of civic obligation that comes with any elected position.
"Tony believes that her duty as an elected official is to serve those she represents,” the statement on her website reads. “Illinois has seen enough career politicians. It is time for a state representative who will be a public servant and support term limits, redistricting reform and holding government accountable.”
“As your next state representative, I will be a strong voice for the political reforms we need to get our government working for us again,” she said.
