Lifelong South Rock Island Township resident Gary Snyder, Republican candidate for township trustee in the April 4 election, is campaigning on a platform of strong and enduring leadership, citing his numerous executive positions both professionally and in the community.

As a member of the South Rock Island Township Republicans (RICo GOP), Snyder recently expressed his desire to bring plans to fruition via a statement about his candidacy on the RICo GOP Facebook page, leading with expertise gained through his more than four decades of “sound leadership experience” to re-invest in South Rock Island Township’s government.

“Gary is a guy who likes to get things done and is looking forward to sharing his years of no-nonsense management as a trustee on the South Rock Island Township Board," the statement said in part.

Snyder, a retired executive of Modern Woodmen of America, serves as president of the Rock Island Optimist Club and as state-level director at the Rock Island Jaycees.

A former commissioner at the Rock Island Planning Commission, he currently serves as chairman of the Rock Island Zoning Board of Appeals.

“(RICo GOP’s duty) is to support the best possible conservative candidates for office at the city, county, township, state and federal levels of government in order to represent our values in the laws/decisions they make to better govern the people whom they serve,” the South Rock Island Township Republicans mission statement said. “Our goal is to provide opportunities for concerned citizens to learn about our candidates and hear (and) share their ideas.”
