I recently visited the Galesburg Sanitary District, located west of Galesburg. During the visit, Superintendent Marshall Schrader provided a tour and discussed the district's history. The facility still operates some original equipment from the 1930s, with an update that occurred in 1972.
Since my last visit a few years ago, several upgrades have been implemented, including an Ultra-violet system. The ongoing upgrades aim to increase capacity and enhance automation. The sanitation district employees work tirelessly to maintain operations around the clock. It is indeed an impressive operation.

"The sanitation district employees keep the plant going everyday, every hour, every minute," Swanson emphasized. "It is an impressive operation."
