Simmer receives support in South Rock Island Township supervisor race

The South Rock Island Township Republicans took to social media to cite Dr. Rodney Simmer’s experience and knowledge in its endorsement of him for township supervisor recently.

"VOTE for Dr. Rodney Simmer to serve as Supervisor: With roots embedded deep in his community, Rodney is a lifetime resident and proud to be raising his family in Rock Island," the Facebook post reads. "After earning Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic Degrees, Rodney has been in private practice in South Rock Island Township for 22 years."

Simmer is facing Democratic incumbent Grace Diaz Shirk in the April 4 election for the four-year position, but the GOP group said that its Simmer’s background that matters most.

"With six years of service on the Rock Island County Board, Rod has also served as Forestry Commissioner and provided input on multiple boards and committees that include county, school and wildlife,” the post reads. “Rodney has both the experience and knowledge to make an effective supervisor for South Rock Island Township. He is a team player who works across political aisles to make the best decisions for all township residents."

Early voting is continuing until April 3. Voters casting an early ballot cannot cast a new ballot on election day, April 4.
