Jay Hatch can add another impressive line to his resume: Quad-City Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
The Alleman High School coach is known in the Rock Island area for leading teams to softball and basketball championships, but before that he was a star high school quarterback himself, leading the West Des Moines Valley football team to the Iowa 4A playoffs in 1983.
At Augustana College, Hatch lettered in baseball and basketball before beginning his coaching career in 1991 at Alleman, winning Class A titles in his rookie season coaching women's basketball and softball. To date, he's won four state championships: three in softball, one in basketball.
Hatch had also been named to the Illinois Coaches Association Softball Hall of Fame and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. His basketball coaching record is 456-270 over 23 seasons.
