South Moline Township Board of Trustee met June 19.
Here is the minutes provided by the 6 p.m.
Present — Tracy Best, Supervisor; Karin Martin, Assessor; Lisa Griffin, Trustee; Mark Lundahl, Trustee; Brian Forsberg, Trustee; and Rob Vyncke, Clerk. Also present: Rick Mellinger, Assessor-Elect. Absent: Bob Schultz, Road Commissioner and Andrea Anderson, Trustee.
Meeting Called To Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Supervisor Best.
Pledge Of Allegiance
Approval Of Minutes — Motion by Griffin, second by Forsberg, that we approve the minutes of June 06, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.
Officials' Reports —
a. Road Commissioner — Best reported that Schultz had called him and stated that he has a down tree on a road and he is cleaning that up. We also had some additional tree damage last week that required clean up. The specifications for the road resurfacing are now out for bid. The engineer’s estimate is approximately $220,000.00.
b. Assessor — We have now filed our 2017 assessments with the county. People are still coming in for their property tax freeze.
c. Clerk — None
d. Trustees — None
e. Cemetery — None
f. Seniors — All is going good. They are starting to research kitchen upgrade options.
Hope is to start this work in the fall.
g. Youth — We received a thank-you note from the YMCA for our recent donations of $3,000.00 for the summer camp program and $1,000.00 for the swimming lessons.
Supervisor's Report —
Best stated that the public viewing period is over and we now need to adopt the budget. There was a motion by Lundahl to adopt the Town Fund Budget as submitted. Second by Griffin. All ayes, motion carried. There was a motion by Forsberg to adopt the Road & Bridge Budget as submitted. Second by Lundahl. All ayes, motion carried.
Unfinished Business — Forsberg asked the status of the St. Giuseppe’s Pizza move-out. Best answered that not much has changed, as they are still not 100% out.
New Business — Best asked Martin if she would like an open house or some kind of party in honor of her retirement. Some discussion followed. Best and Martin will discuss this later. Best stated that at the next board meeting we will have to appoint a replacement assessor and he plans on appointing Mellinger.
