City of Silvis Park, Building, and Grounds Committee met August 23.

Location: City Hall 12111"Street
Chairman Trulson called the meeting to order at 4:39pm and noted a quorum was present. The purpose of the meeting was discussion on what to do with Hibb's Park.
Chairman Trulson said he looked at several options but the two most favorable would be to eliminate the ball diamond or reverse the diamond. The cost to remove the diamond would be $18,083 and the cost to reverse would be $17,815. He added if the ball diamond were removed then the question would be what to do with the park and new equipment would need to be installed and additional parking added. This would amount to $20k or more. He asked if there were any other questions.
Committee discussed some of the detail and how costs were calculated. Additional parking needs seemed to be a common goal. Discussed was dirt on the street, parking issues how the reversed diamond would be set up. Alderwoman Hall likes the idea of a reversed diamond. Alderman York was in agreement to 'flip the park'. Of the two options remove or reverse. Juan was not in support of removing the field; in fact he was concerned about spending the money for just 6 weeks of use in a year. Alderman Rockwell said why turn around for just T-ball? Bob Roman noted that the initial costs (fence) area one-time expense. He added that he thought there might be a grant available through Little League.
Committee recommendation was to take action to reverse the ball diamond and Continue to research possibility of getting a grant through Little League.
There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 5:07pm.
