Kewanee Public Library District Board met October 9.
Here is the minutes as provided by the board:
Members Present: Sue Busenbark, President; Barb Koller, Vice President; Becky Ault, Treasurer; Norma Good, Secretary; Vanessa Fite, Ruth Kapacinskas and John Sayers. Also present: Barbara Love, Director; Ann Turnbull, Head of Information Services; Sara Billiet, Head of Youth Services; Amy Gould, Head of Technical Processing; Sarah Arnold, Head of Circulation Services; Doug Kindle, Technology Associate.
Sue Busenbark, President, called the meeting to order at 4:00. No public comments.
Secretary minutes for September 11, 2017, were reviewed. Sayers made a motion to approve the minutes and Fite seconded the motion. RESOLVED, THAT THE MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2017, KEWANEE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING BE ACCEPTED. Motion passed.
The budget was discussed. Sum borrowed from working cash earlier will be paid back this month. A motion was made by Ault and seconded by Good to approve the payment of payroll in the amount of $28,978.88, and bills in the amount of $23,747.58. RESOLVED, THAT THE PAYMENT OF THE PAYROLL AND BILLS BE ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED. Motion passed.
Director Love presented the Department Reports. Friends are to have their annual meeting tonight at 7. The 8th Annual Art Show was discussed. It was a great success. Congratulations to Sara Billiet, who successfully wrote our FY2018 PNG grant for $9,580 to be used for teen photography workshops. Rotary donated $200 to help purchase books to give to kindergarten students as they sign up for their first library cards. Thanks for this donation that encourages reading. November 6 is the Kiwanis’ Career Day, in which the library will participate. Our page Yadira Chavez is taking advantage of the AmeriCorps program, which pays her salary and invests in an education award toward future college expenses. All departments continue to be very busy improving procedures as they identify them and in outreach to our patrons.
