South Moline Township Board of Trustee met Nov. 20.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Present — Tracy Best, Supervisor; Rick Mellinger, Assessor; Andrea Anderson, Trustee; Brian Forsberg, Trustee; Bob Schultz, Road Commissioner; and Rob Vyncke, Clerk. Absent: Lisa Griffin, Trustee; and Mark Lundahl, Trustee.
Meeting Called to Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Supervisor Best.
Pledge of Allegiance
Approval of Minutes — Motion by Anderson, second by Forsberg, that we approve the minutes of November 07, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.
Officials' Reports —
a. Road Commissioner — We had a truck repaired and are also working on repairing a backhoe. The repair of the backhoe is being done in-house to save money.
b. Assessor — All is going well.
c. Clerk — Nothing new to report.
d. Trustees — None
e. Cemetery — They had a meeting last week and everything is going well.
f. Seniors — Best showed pictures of the recent remodel project. The countertop and sink are going in this week. Everything looks very nice.
g. Youth — None
Supervisor's Report —
a. Best submitted copies of the new proposed levy for the Town Fund and Road & Bridge, stating that the new levy is very close to what we are actually taking in and spending. After some discussion, there was a motion by Forsberg to approve the levy for the Town Fund as submitted. Second by Anderson. All ayes, motion carried. There was a motion by Anderson to approve the levy for Road & Bridge as submitted. Second by Forsberg. All ayes, motion carried.
b. Best stated that he would like to appoint Blake Lanum to fill the vacancy on the Cemetery Board. There was a motion by Forsberg to appoint Blake Lanum to the Cemetery Board. Second by Anderson. All ayes, motion carried.
c. Best announced that the RICTA Dinner will be December 07 and that reservations need to be in by Dec 04. Anyone who wants to go needs to advise Best.
d. Best stated that we have a possible tenant for the building next door. However, there is some concern on room for parking, but Best said we could put in the lease the number of parking spaces that will be available to the new tenant. Best also stated that we have to remodel and fix it up.
Best said the tenant is willing to sign a 5-year lease at a cost of approximately $1,600.00 - $2,000.00 a month. After further discussion, all agreed that Best is to move forward and negotiate the details and get it rented. Best will contact our attorney for lease preparation.
