City of New Boston Council met Feb. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The City of New Boston met in regular session February 28, 2018. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Long, Stineman, Marston, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Ramer. Police Chief Mike also attended the meeting. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.

No one was present for Public Forum.

Fourdyce made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Stineman, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to approve the bills, seconded by Long, all aye votes, motion carried.

There were no bills to approve from the OSLAD grant. Mayor DeFrieze informed the Council that pictures need to be taken of the shower house to make sure everything was up to code in order to receive reimbursements from the grant.

Marla Reynolds from the Mercer County Family Crisis Center informed the Council of the upcoming Champions for Children Walk on May 5th. She explained to the Council why donations were needed to help fund this program. Fourdyce made the motion to donate $500 to the Champions for Children Walk, seconded by Stineman. Roll call votes as follows: Long-aye, Stineman-aye, Marston-aye, Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Marston made the motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Fouryce, all aye votes, motion carried.

Police Chief Mike told the Council that they had a few more pads poured at the Campground and would continue to keep pouring more. He has ordered more electrical boxes and is working on the transformer so Ameren can come hook up the power to those. Mike has been asked whether or not the Campers would be charged for sewer during the winter months, as of right no the answer is no, they will not be charged. Mike asked the Council if he could rent a skid loader to help with getting the pads poured at the campground. Long made the motion to rent a skid loader but not to exceed $2000, seconded by Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Long-aye, Stineman-aye, Marston-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Marston made the motion to pass the Appropriations Ordinance, seconded by Long. Roll call votes as follows: Long-aye, Stineman-aye, Marston-aye, Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mayor DeFrieze informed the Council that the $5000 bill from Valley Construction needs to be paid. Marston made the motion to pay Valley $5000 out of the garbage fund, seconded by Stineman, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce brought up the need to fill the Ward III Alderman vacancy.

Long asked Mike what needed to be fixed on the sewer camera. Mike told him the camera is damaged and would need to be shipped to a company in California to determine a repair estimate.

Mike told the Council that he was in need of a new Police vest and tazer cartridges. Long made the motion to purchase a new vest and cartridges, seconded by Marston, all aye votes, motion carried.

Long made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Marston, all aye votes, motion carried.
