City of New Boston Council met March 14.

The City of New Boston met in regular session March 14,2018. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Stineman, Marston, Ramer, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Long. Police Chief Mike, Treasurer Tonya LeHew, KJ Schreurs, and Derek Schmidt attended the meeting as well. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.
Derek Schmidt was present for Public Forum.
Derek asked the Council if he could put up a sign-up sheet for volunteers to help finish the campground. Mayor said he would have to check and see if it would interfere with the grant. The Council thanked him for his concern and wanting to help.
Marston made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes, motion carried.
Marston made the motion to approve the bills, seconded by Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Stineman-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion Carried.
Mayor DeFrieze swore in KJ Schreurs as Ward III Alderman.
Fourdyce made the motion to pay the bill of $2332.88 for the OSLAD grant, seconded by Stineman, all aye votes, motion carried.
Treasurer LeHew asked the Council if she should begin paying back the Fish Fry account back from the start up of the Fitness Center. Marston made the motion to pay $1000 from the Fitness Center account to the Fish Fry account, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.
Stineman made the motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Marston, all aye votes motion carried.
Police Chief Mike informed the Council that they only have 23 pads left to pour at the Campground. He has all the electrical things needed to run the power ordered. He has Rudy coming down to give the City an estimate of how long it will take him to connect the power. Mayor informed the Council that Valley would be down this week to finish up what they have left to do at the Campground. Mike also mentioned getting a dumpster sometime soon for Spring cleanup.
Mercer County Post Prom Parent Committee sent a letter requesting a donation from the City to help fund Post Prom. Ramer made the motion to donate $200 out of the garbage fund, seconded by Marston. Roll call votes as follows: Stineman-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.
Mayor Defrieze informed the Council that Scott Coulter was interested in purchasing the Chinery property. Stineman made the motion to sell the Chinery property to Scott Coulter for $3500, seconded by Marston. Roll call votes as follows: Stineman-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.
The New Boston Museum is requesting to have the asbestos removed from two second story rooms and a hallway. They also asked to get a new Handicap Ramp. The Mayor and Council asked to get an estimate of cost for both projects.
Mike is going to buy a new window to replace the one that got damaged at City Hall and him and Doug are going to install it Saturday.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on March 24,2018 at 10:00 am. Ramer made the motion to donate $300 from the Fish Fry account to help purchase candy for the Easter Egg Hunt, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes, motion carried.
Marston made the motion to go into executive session, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes motion carried.
Ramer made the motion to agree to all discussion in executive session, seconded by Stineman. Roll call votes as follows: Stineman-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.
Ramer asked Mike for an update of the new ball diamond. Mike told him that he has the field leveled and is almost ready to start laying bases. Ramer also asked if the pop machine is going to be moved. Mike told him that he is planning on pouring a concrete pad for it to sit on, next to the City Hall building.
Marston made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.
