Black Hawk College recently issued the following announcement.
Wyffels Hybrids has developed a scholarship and work program in coordination with Black Hawk College.
Two $500 scholarships will be granted each semester to high school seniors or college students pursuing a two-year degree at the East Campus in either agribusiness management or agriculture production.
Scholarships are available to students who live in Black Hawk College district and will be awarded based on achievement, demonstration of community and school involvement, knowledge of agriculture and the perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. Recipients will be required to work at Wyffels in the Research or Production departments during semester breaks and during the summer between semesters.
“There’s no better place to begin earning a strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and perseverance than in an ag production career,” said John Wyffels, president of Wyffels Hybrids.
“We are excited to support early career students who are curious to learn more about ag production and help equip them with some of the skills necessary to pursue their passion.”
The application deadline is Thursday, May 31.
