Village of Cordova Board of Trustees met February 8. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Call To Order: Jim called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.


Roll Call: Julie Hager, Harvey Sothmann, Shannon Craigmiles, Alvin Barber, Della Rogers Scott, Pat Fidlar. Also Present Connie Eckermann, Brittany Calvert, Bob VanHooreweghe and Judd Giffin.

Public comment: Republic called Jim to inform him that because of the pending snow storm garbage pickup would be canceled for Friday.

Judd Giffin a senior civil engineer came out to introduce himself to the board. Judd has worked with other municipal’s working with their water systems.

Bob VanHooreweghe questioned why we had to use crane to remove dock. Jim responded that it was sinking due to ice and had to come out.

Payroll: Julie has been talking to Hammer & associates about out sourcing payroll. She has also talked to Long Grove, another municipality that Hammer associates helps. Julie stated that if we do out source payroll Hammer associates would take care of end of year taxes and Imrf.

Clerks Training: Brittany and Susan are interested in IML clerks training program in Rock Island on April 19 and 20. Brittany is waiting to get more information on the training program.

URICA Donations: URICA would like a donation from the Village for the upcoming season. Brittany to see if we donated anything last year.

IMRF: Jim let the board know that we need to remove Christina as the IMRF authorized agent and replace her. Jim suggested Brittany be Christina's replacement.

Furnace: Youngs heating came out to repair the furnace at the village and did inspection. The bill for work done is $105.00. Additional work needs to be done to bring up to code. Youngs will give bid.

Office Equipment: The office workers would like to purchase 3 monitors and one keyboard. Need to get prices. We are going to check the budget for office supplies.

Electric Pump Company: Alvin reported parts have been ordered for the bad transducer at the River Road lift station and we are waiting on the bill.

Park and Rec: Harvey noticed the hangers on the swings need to be replaced on 8 swings, 16 hangers @ $18 for total cost of $288 plus tax and shipping.

Old Business: Shannon is still working on quote from quick books.

Alvin is working on getting the new water rates.

Alvin reported the dead tree above lift station by the exercise equipment needs to be removed Jim is going to call around to get bids.

Bob VanHooreweghe asked about the codification books. Committee to review and to look into contract.

Mike McCullough spoke to Jim about the water and sewer utilities for his property. Questions re easements for same.

New Business: Della would like to look into getting a small pick- up truck for plowing

we are going to check the budget. She also brought up the issue of abandoned houses and whether or not there is an ordinance covering them.

Shannon noted that the Board needs to start work on the budget.

Matt our TIF attorney completed the TIF audit. He also informed Jim since Christina is no longer employed we need a new TIF administrator. It should be someone who is in the office daily

Pastor John Kress asked the board for ideas for the harvest homes.

Shannon reported the boosters have asked for donations for the Easter egg hunt she also reported she asked them to give us a accounting of funds.

Jim reported the Cordova Baptist church and the American legion are having a spaghetti dinner at the church on February 17th.

Shannon made a motion to adjourn Julie 2nd , 6 ayes.
