A

Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Center recently issued the following announcement.

What do Emmy Award winning producer and writer Ron D. Moore, renowned actor Ed Speleers, and Emmy Award winning Costume Designer Terry Dresbach all have in common? They are all part of the hit STARZ television series Outlander, and they are coming to the Quad Cities for a two-day Outlander convention. The Thru the Stones Outlander convention is November 30 and December 1, 2018, at the RiverCenter, 136 East 3rd Street in downtown Davenport, Iowa. Tickets are now available at www.thruthestones.com

Ron D. Moore is the Executive Producer and writer for the hit series Outlander on STARZ cable network, based on the novels of Diana Gabaldon. Moore is also known for his work on Star Trek movies; Battlestar Galactica television series, for which he won a Peabody Award; and Carnivale.

Ed Speleers is an English actor and producer. He is well known for playing the title role in the 2006 film Eragon, as well as starring in the Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning TV series Downton Abbey. Speleers now plays a villainous pirate in the Outlander series.

Terry Dresbach is Outlander’s Costume Designer and was nominated twice for Emmys in that production. She previously won an Emmy for her outstanding work in Carnivale. In fact, this is Terry’s last costume production as she announced her permanent retirement this past summer.

All three will be meeting attendees, speaking, signing autographs, and taking photos with attendees during the Thru The Stones Convention at the RiverCenter.

Thru The Stones will be a full Outlander immersion convention including meals, classes, a trivia contest, entertainment, a meet and greet with all three celebrities, and more.

The two-day, all-inclusive ticket ($410 cost) includes a generous gift bag, access to Beardsley's Trading Post, and other vendors with Outlander-related wares, lunches, dinners, and access to classes and presentations. There is also an Opening Ceremonies Outlander Trivia Night competition, complete with door prizes. The winners of the Trivia Contest will be seated with Ron Moore during the Saturday night dinner.

Other events include a Retirement Party for Terry Dresbach, an Outlander Comedy Hour, a brunch and entertainment.

On Saturday afternoon, Ron Moore will give a talk on his life experiences and the production of Outlander. Terry Dresbach will also be joining Ron that afternoon.

The closing reception is a Jamaican-themed Governor’s Ball. Foods include the flavors of the island and attendees are encouraged to come in costume from any Outlander time period they choose. A Costume Parade will be emceed by Terry Dresbach. Ed Speleers will also speak on Saturday evening and will have dinner with a select group of attendees chosen by lottery.
