BLACK HAWK COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Western Riders Lead Region After Weekend Double Win

Black Hawk Community College recently issued the following announcement.

East Campus equine program bannerThe Black Hawk College Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Western Equestrian Team was the high point team Nov. 17 and Nov. 18 at the IHSA Western Horse Show at the college’s East Campus.

Over the two days, 42 BHC students competed against riders from Augustana College, Iowa State University, Northern Illinois University, Truman State University, the University of Wisconsin – Platteville and Western Illinois University.

Black Hawk College currently leads the region with 178 points.

Each year student riders must earn a designated number of points to qualify for the first post-season event, the Regional Championships. Still early in the show season, the BHC team already has 12 qualified riders. They are noted below with an *asterisk.

Competing for the first time in their equestrian careers were Kindall Carter, Kyra Carlisle and Riley Yermasek. Every level of rider contributes to the success of the team!
