City of New Boston Council met Oct. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City of New Boston met in regular session October 24, 2018. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Giles, Schreurs, Marston, Ramer, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Stineman. Police Chief Mike and Campground host Natalie attended the meeting as well. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.

No one was present for Public Forum.

Ramer made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.

Mike brought in one bid for the roof at the Fitness Center, Council asked him to get one more before they make a decision.

Mike let the Council know that the City has received the rebate check from Ameren for the lights at the Ball Diamond. After the rebate the City will receive a check from the Ball Diamond for $4521.63 for their half.

Mike told the Council they have ran 3 new gas lines, 2 new water, and 1 sewer.

Mike informed the Council that they were a few days late on a water sample test so they have a report of that being mailed to all City water customers.

Natalie told the Council she plans on shopping for all the food basket items again this year. She asked the Council for a $1000 donation to make the baskets.

Ramer made the motion to donate $1000 for the food baskets, seconded by Marston. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

The City needs $100 petty cash for the Halloween Costume contest.

Fourdyce made the motion to get $100 petty cash, seconded by Schreurs. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mayor DeFrieze asked if the City wants to sponsor Shop with a Hero this year. It would include needing a $300 donation.

Fourdyce made the motion to donate $300 for Shop with a Hero, seconded by Giles. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Natalie let the Council know that she thinks she will have 2 hunters staying in the Campground for hunting season.

Ramer asked for an update on the Prentiss Addition road. Mike said the township agreed to grade it and then they would lay gravel.

Ramer asked to revisit the idea of getting a new storm warning system.

Schreurs made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Marston, all aye votes, motion carried.
