City of New Boston Council met Nov. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City of New Boston met in regular session November 28, 2018. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Giles, Schreurs, Marston, Ramer, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Stineman. Police Chief Mike and Jackie Brown attended the meeting as well. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.

No one was present for Public Forum.

Marston made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Schreurs, all aye votes, motion carried.

Mike told the Council that they were in need of a new small generator for the shop.

Ramer made the motion to by a new generator, seconded by Giles. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mike informed the Council that Jackie had passed his power test. He also told the Council that Jackie would need a vest and boots.

Marston made the motion to buy Jackie boots and a vest, seconded Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mike said that he had to buy wheel weights and chains for the mower in order to use it to help plow snow.

Mike said that him and Dan could help Doug put it on to save cost on labor, and the City would just have to pay Doug his hourly wage.

Fourdyce made the motion to have Doug Giles put on the new roof at the Fitness Center with Mike and Dan’s help, seconded by Schreurs. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-abstain, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

The Council tabled the Jackson’s Contract until next meeting.

The Splash park was tabled until next meeting so more research could be done.

Ramer made the motion to purchase a new storm warning siren for $12,096 plus the $6500 installation fee, seconded by Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mayor DeFrieze swore in Jackie Brown as a Police Officer for the City.

Ramer asked about the possibility of adding the solar panels out by the Cemetery to help with the cost of the electric bill for the sewer. The Council agreed to look further into it.

Marston made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.
