The price of local government in 2017: Village of Carbon Cliff

The Village of Carbon Cliff budget was $3.11 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $5,322 per household.

That's an increase of 12.6 percent from 2016, when the village spent $2.77 million, or $4,729 per household.

Carbon Cliff has 585 households and a population of 2,134.

Since 2001, the Village of Carbon Cliff budget has grown by 5.9 percent, from $2.94 million. The village population has grown 26.3 percent over the same period, from 1,689.

Salaries accounted for 8.3 percent of village spending in 2017. Carbon Cliff property taxpayers paid $258,400 for six full-time employees and one part-time employee.

In 2001, the village had nine full-time employees and five part-time employees, and spent $432,944.
