QUAD CITIES CONVENTION AND VISITORS CENTER: The Barrelhouse Rockets to be held June 7

Concer3

Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Center recently issued the following announcement.

The Barrelhouse Rockets came to be from a mutual love of traditional rockabilly, honky-tonk and boogie woogie, and the realization that there was a void in the central Iowa music scene for just such niche music.

Geoff spear-headed the project, being influenced by the likes of his mom who taught him the first notes he played on the piano, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley that played on his family's record player.

Then came Fletch. The duo found much common ground in their musical tastes while coming from different backgrounds. Johnny Cash, The Statler Brothers, and Elvis crossed paths within their record collections. Now Piano and upright bass were covered, time to get this thing going.

To round out the group, Craig brought the slap-back drenched twang of a hollow body guitar and Jeff provided the back beat boom of his trap set. The group meshed and honed its own sound through rehearsals and frequent shows opening for the likes of The Little River Band, Rascal Flatts, Gary Allan, Deke Dickerson, and their personal favorites, The Kentucky Headhunters.

The stage is where they have thrived. Their "In your face" style of rockabilly becomes infectious, sometimes to the point of a controlled frenzy. Call and return vocals and back and forth guitar and piano solos are some of the highlights the band's live stage shows.

"The Barrelhouse Rockets return with their signature style of rockabilly. Rapid-fire honky-tonk piano, thundering rhythm from the drums and doghouse bass, buttery twang guitar, and full harmonic vocals spotlight the high energy show by The Barrelhouse Rockets." - The Gas Lamp

"The band has cultivated a large following throughout the Midwest during their decade together. The Barrelhouse Rockets have opened for the likes of The Kentucky Headhunters, Rascal Flatts, Gary Allan, and Deke Dickerson, just to name a few. Gas Lamp describes the band sound as "rapid fire honky-tonk piano, thundering doghouse bass, chicken pickin' guitar, and heart-pumping drums"
