City of New Boston Council met April 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City of New Boston met in regular session April 24, 2019. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Miller, Schreurs, Marston, Ramer, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Giles. Police Chief Mike DeFrieze and Ralyn Schraceo attended the meeting as well. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.

No one was present for Public Forum.

Marston made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Miller. Roll call votes as follows: Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Mike informed the Council that the storm siren was being installed. He also let them know that they have 7 new sewer lines ran at the Campground.

Ramer made the motion to let Ralyn Schraceo start a Crafter’s/Farmer’s Market, using the empty lot next to City Hall as long as she provided proof of insurance, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes, motion carried.

Mayor Defrieze asked the Council to start thinking about candidates for Citizen of the Year.

Ramer voted to table the Roads until next meeting, seconded by Schreurs, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to pay the Museum’s Menards bill out of the park account, seconded by Miller. Roll call votes as follows: Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-abstain, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Ramer made the motion to purchase one more purple martin bird house, seconded by Marston. Roll call votes as follows: Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Marston-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller asked about maintaining the boat dock, the Council asked him to get prices for the necessary materials needed.

Ramer made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Miller, all aye votes, motion carried.
