City of New Boston City Council met Nov. 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City of New Boston met in regular session November 13, 2019. Mayor DeFrieze opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Alderman present were Giles, Miller, Schreurs, Ramer, and Fourdyce. Alderman absent was Marston. Police Chief Mike and Treasurer Tonya LeHew also attended the meeting. Minutes were taken by Lacey Schreurs.

No one was present for public forum.

Schreurs made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Giles, all aye votes, motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Ramer. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Fourdyce, all aye votes, motion carried.

Mike Reported that the gas meter at the elevator is now fixed. He also let the Council know that the dump trucks snowplow is currently broken. He got a bid on a new snowplow for $5500.

Giles made the motion to purchase a new snowplow, seconded by Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to not put the old maintenance truck out for bid, seconded by Ramer. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to sell the old maintenance truck for $300 to Tim Long, seconded by Ramer. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Fourdyce made the motion to donate $300 to the Shop with a Hero event, seconded by Schreurs. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to not donate to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office 911 board, seconded by Ramer. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Schreurs made the motion to cancel the November 27th, 2019 meeting, seconded by Giles. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to have the City’s Christmas Party at Rocky’s on December 14, 2019, seconded by Giles, all aye votes, motion carried.

Ramer reported that the Battle of the Bars raised more than $13,000 for the Veteran’s Memorial.

The Council agreed to get a bid on Christmas lights and a tree for the Christmas Event on December 7th.

LuAnn Krengle has decided to not take care of the Community Center anymore. The Council discussed the City taking care of the financials and Greg Parrish organizing the parties.

Giles made the motion for the City to take care of the Community Center’s financials and Greg Parrish will organize the Community Center’s parties, seconded by Fourdyce. Roll call votes as follows: Giles-aye, Miller-aye, Schreurs-aye, Ramer-aye, and Fourdyce-aye. Motion carried.

Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ramer, all aye votes, motion carried.
