Analysis: Rock Island pays $7.94 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Rock Island Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 88.7 percent of the $3,698,416 the Rock Island Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $7.94 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Rock Island contributed $3,280,309 to the fund, which saw a $238,569 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $412,943, or 11.2 percent, in 2018. Another $5,164 came from other unspecified sources.
