State Senator Neil Anderson | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Neil Anderson expressed his views on the sentencing of former House Speaker Michael Madigan. In a statement, he labeled Madigan as "the kingpin of Illinois corruption" and described him as "a political mob boss who used power to enrich himself and his allies."
Anderson acknowledged that Madigan's conviction represents justice being served but argued it is insufficient. He emphasized that the issue extends beyond one individual, pointing to a "rigged system" that allowed such behavior to persist for decades. According to Anderson, this system continues to operate with insiders benefiting from it.
The senator also voiced his frustration with the current situation in Illinois, stating, "Illinoisans are fed up. So am I." He criticized the blocking of Republican-led ethics reform packages, which have been proposed multiple times without even receiving a hearing. Anderson concluded by urging for collaboration and serious efforts in addressing corruption: "Bring us to the table and let’s get serious about rooting out corruption."
