Geneseo Public Library District Board of Trustees met Aug. 13.

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library. President Ray Rogers called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Trustees in attendance were Lee Fluck, Janet Klavohn, Carol Luciani, Kim Reynolds and Karen Turner.
Citizen’s Input No citizens were in attendance.
Secretary’s Report The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Kim made a motion to pay the bills, Ray seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously by roll call vote. Some of the higher costs incurred this past month included the replacement of a new water heater, new water faucets, and LED lights.
Happenings at the Library RAILS is now delivering books from other libraries again. In August the staff will have its annual CPR training. All library personnel will be trained to program the digital sign. Our numbers with RAILS are very good: each month about 13,000 items are checked out. The Illinois Public Library Annual Report was signed by Ray and Carol.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Digital Sign Looks great and has gotten lots of compliments.
Building The tentative budget and appropriation ordinance was explained by Jim Luikart. With all members in attendance voting “yes,” it was passed and will be submitted once more next month.
NEW BUSINESS
Opening The library officially opened on July 1, still offering curbside delivery on Wednesdays. Masks are required, patrons use hand sanitizer and the time of the entry is noted. No patrons have exceeded the allowed limit to be in the building, and there has not been one incident of surpassing the allowed amount of patrons in the building.
Virtual Programs Due to covid-19, all in-library programs were cancelled but we’ve offered some excellent virtual programs.
By-Laws The By-Laws of this library must be approved every five years. After a review, a few minor changes were noted and will be made. With those changes, all members in attendance voted unanimously to approve it.
