City of Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee met Sept. 9.

Call to Order and Roll Call

Chair Brett Hitchcock called the virtual meeting to order at 4:00 PM

Approval of the Agenda

Dawn Wohlford-Metallo moved to approve the agenda for September 9, 2020. Carolyn Krueger seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0.

Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes

Jodie Kavensky moved to approve the minutes for August 12, 2020. Dawn Wohlford-Metallo seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0.

Rainworks Project Update

Kathy Douglass told the committee that the Rainworks stenciling was finished and read a list of the completed locations. Carolyn Krueger has volunteered to do a couple more stencils, weather permitting.

Discussion on Arts Plan Updates

The commissioners discussed updating the 2015 Arts Plan. Kathy Douglass suggested that the committee prepare written notes on their thoughts and suggestions for the next meeting, similar to notes sent by Amber Williams, so that the commission can do a more detailed analysis of the current plan and decide on whether or not the current plan needs to be updated. Kathy will forward Amber’s notes to the other commissioners as an example.

Information about the previous work done by Artspace for the City of Rock Island and a recent request to update that work, as outlined in a “ArtSpace Scope of Work”, was presented to the commission by Alderman Dylan Parker.

Chair Brett Hitchcock asked for a motion to adjourn. Carolyn Krueger moved to adjourn. Dawn Wohlford- Metallo seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0 at 5:08 PM.
