City of Colona Public Works Committee met Feb. 11.

CALL TO ORDER: 4:02 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Aldermen Swemline, Jones, Feliksiak were present
STAFF PRESENT: Mike Stephens Acting Public Works DirectorIsis Crew CSFP Manager
PUBLIC COMMENTS: Jeff Lovett, a seasonal camper on lot 122 at CSFP, would like to donate a pool table to CSFP. He is the owner of J&D Pool Table Service and would supply the table and whatever else is needed, as well as maintaining it as required at no cost to the City. The committee is in favor of this donation.
PUBIC WORKS AGENDA ITEMS:
1. The old general store building at CSFP is ready and will be demolished when the weather breaks.
2. Public Works will begin to accept applications for seasonal workers. The plan is to hire 11 seasonal employees. The committee decided that wages for seasonal employees would be set at $11.50/hour for new seasonal employees and$12.00/hour for returning seasonal employees
3. There are a couple of projects waiting to be completed until the weather is more conducive to outdoor work. They are: the deck at CSFP and the window replacement at the PD.
4. The committee discussed the painting/baseboard project for the PD. This project was approved at the City Council on February 8, 2021. The winning bidder was notified and instructed to get in touch with the Chief for scheduling, etc.
5. The City received the last quote for the new dump truck. It was the state bid for $123,462.82. The committee recommends purchasing the dump truck with the state bid.
6. Mike Stephens will be attending computer courses on the first Monday of the month for 3 months beginning in March.
7. The new salt spreader is being used on the 1-ton truck and is working fine.
