City of Keithsburg City Council met Feb. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Reason opened the Meeting at 6:30 PM

Pledge of Allegiance

Alderman Present: Donnie Cox, Melonie McLaughlin, Chad Weeks, Don Truitt

Kayla Hillman, City Clerk; Cindy Diehl, Treasurer.

Not Present: Tom Litwiler, Ronnie Brock, Eric Long, Tom Bennett

Public Comment: Dennis Mulvey spoke about a letter he received, asking for more time to remove the nuisance. Due to the weather the Council agreed to extend the time limit. Dennis also mentioned how great the Campground looked the last year.

1. Cash Receipts: Donnie motion to approve, Melonie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

2. Cash Disbursements: Melonie motioned to approve, Donnie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

3. Minutes from last Month’s Meeting: Donnie motioned to approve, Melonie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

4. Water and Sewer:

• Water/sewer collector is due for an increase, Donnie made a motion to raise it to $18.00 an hour, Chad seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• The New water and sewer rate was passed December 13, 2021. Approval to update the City Ordinance for water and sewer rates. Melonie made a motion to approve, Donnie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

5. Streets and sidewalks:

• Skyler Flowers spoke about machinery that would help the city tremendously, Skid loader with tracks with a street sweeper and brush grinder attachment. Donnie made a motion to start searching, Melonie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes. 6. Fire Department:

• Fire Department is hosting Bingo March 12th, 2022 at 4pm

7. Police:

• Sherrard is selling two cop cars and equipment, Chad motioned buy them if Donnie approves when they go to inspect them. Don Truitt seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• Police pay is due for an increase, Donnie made a motion to raise it to $20.00 a hour, Chad seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

10. Resolutions and Ordinance:

• MFT Resolution, funds of $50,000 for 2022. Melonie motioned to approve, Chad seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

11. Other:

• City of Keithsburg received CURE Funding amount of $25,000.

• Jeremy Malcom asked the City to donate $1,500 for the 4th of July celebration. Donnie made a motion to approve, Melonie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• Logging on the Levee: Matt Willits is finished logging, agreement is that he will fix any ruts or damage done to the levee.

Adjourn the Meeting: Donnie made a motion, Melonie seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.
