Rep. Daniel Swanson recently met up with his constituents at the IBA Summer Conference & IFGC Forage Expo in Macomb earlier in June.

“My intern Rebecka and I attended the IBA Summer Conference & IFGC Forage EXPO at Spoon River College, Community Outreach Center in Macomb,” Swanson wrote on Facebook.

The IBA Summer Conference & IFGC Forage EXPO was scheduled over June 7 and 8.

The expo included workshops and seminars.

Swanson belongs to several House committees including the Elementary & Secondary Education Committee: School Curriculum & Policies Committee, and the Mental Health & Addiction Committee.

When asked by the Register-Mail what he would do to reduce crime and gun violence in his district, he said that in addition to repealing the SAFE-T Act,  “Improving economic opportunity and access/availability of quality education can reduce crime,” he said. “A government’s most foundational responsibility is the safety of its people.”

Swanson recently welcomed veterans home from an honor flight. The vets were flown to Washington, D.C. to tour memorials.

“Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Honor Flight 53,” Swanson wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you to everyone who made this flight possible for our heroes.”

KHQA reported Gov. J.B. Pritzker recently signed a bill co-sponsored by Swanson that would classify 911 dispatchers as first responders. The law will go into effect next year.

“Emergency medical dispatchers are critical members of the response teams and this law recognizes the importance of the role they play in helping save lives during a crisis,” Swanson said, according to KHQA. “This is another example of the collaboration with Sen. (Neil) Anderson (R-Moline) I appreciate in passing good legislation for our constituents and the people of Illinois.”

Swanson recently made a campaign stop in Coal Valley.

State Senate candidate Mike Thoms, the current Rock Island mayor, and Congressional candidate Esther Joy King, a veteran in the reserve, joined Swanson at Happy Joe's at 320 West 1st Ave. Both candidates are also Republican.
